Condition surveys and collections care

Surveys can be conducted to identify the general health of a collection and identify and prioritize the need for treatments.

Creation of customized housing and enclosures

One of the most important factors influencing an objects conservation is appropriate protective housing. Many types of custom enclosures can be created and old framing can often be modified to prevent further damage. For example, spacers can be integrated to hold an object away from the glass and dust seals can be added to keep out damaging insects, debris and moisture.

Stabilization, repair and restoration

A treatment plan will be designed after consultation with a client and consideration of the goals for the object. An item that is to be handled for research will need to be stabilized so that handling does not cause further deterioration but aesthetics may not be important. An artwork to be displayed may need more involved treatment to restore aesthetics.
